Tips on bringing your furry friend to the beach!
- Always be considerate and pick up after your pet. Dispose of pet waste properly. (Please don't bury dog feces in the sand at the beach. It is highly unsanitary and considered rude to other visitor, too.)
- When packing for your trip to the beach, be sure to include the following for your four-legged friend as well: Their leash, Vet approved sunscreen, Water & Bowl, Something to provide shade, and maybe a toy or two!
- When arriving to a new surrounding, it is best to keep your pet securely on the leash until conditions are safe for you, your pet and the other beach goers, too!
- Once you have set up your spot at the beach, look around and get a good feel for the other beach goers and their animals.
- It is important that your pet is in a calm, submissive state. If your pet is a little "antzy", a nice walk along the shore should help relieve any balled up energy he/she may have. For some dogs, a brisk jog is the key to help calm them down. Running on the sand can be a strenuous exercise for dogs of all ages, be sure not to over do it!
- As pet owners, it is our job to ensure the safety of our pets and others. Helping your pet to maintain a submissive state is the best way to be safe and have fun!
- Be sure to keep in mind your pets skin. Dogs can get sunburned just like us. Providing a shady spot or even Vet approved sunscreen is a must. Also, the salt water is fun to play in, but not so great left on the skin or fur. If left on, it could damage their sensitive skin and fur. A quick rinse at the showers before heading home is a must!
